The article focuses on the history of blood transfusion during first world war. Topics discussed include more demand for donors of group O who were soldiers with less severe injuries, performing transfusion from vein to vein using syringe devices, and use of citrated blood before the outbreak of war, and carrying out blood transfusion using pre-donated refrigerated blood preserved in citrate-dextrose.
