- Abstract
In the article "Reply to the contributions of this issue: Review and outlook," Michaela Haase and Ingrid Becker discuss ideology critique in the tradition of Critical Rationalism and Critical Theory. They emphasize the similarities and intersections of both traditions and the importance of scientific-empirical critique as well as positivist ideology critique. The authors note that ideology critique has been lost in economics and discuss the goals and consequences of ideology critique. They argue that an economics free of ideology is not possible, but rather a critically reflected ideology. Ideology critique allows for avoiding theoretical exclusions, blockades, and hindrances to progress. The text deals with ideology critique and the reflection of economic theories and models. It addresses the social-theoretical foundations of ideology critique and discusses the role of values in theory and method selection. It emphasizes that ideology cannot be exposed solely through proving statements false. The article proposes a distinction between scientific and ideological approaches and emphasizes the importance of the empirical performance of a theory for ideology critique. It also addresses the corruption debate, which deals with the corruption of social relationships through the implementation of market elements. The article discusses the question of whether theoretical norms correspond to economic practices. It argues that the practice of exchange cannot guarantee or realize its own norms. Ideology critique is presented as a means of reconstructing market behavior in terms of norms and sources of justification. It emphasizes that social practices should take precedence over systems of meaning. The article concludes with an appeal to critically question ideology and reconsider thinking habits. The text discusses various perspectives on ideology and ideology critique. It is pointed out that there are different approaches to defining and criticizing ideology. Some see ideology as a problem or limitation, while others consider it a source of scientific inspiration. The authors emphasize that the analysis of ideology is an important prerequisite for formulating criticism and evaluating problem solutions. It is noted that there is no definitive answer to which approaches provide the best conditions for ideology analysis and critique.
