- Abstract
The article focuses on the importance of awareness regarding the risk of continued play in a sports-related concussed state. Topics discussed include the science of a concussion and the concept of assumed risk defense in negligence actions, two civil suits brought against the National Football League (NFL) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) by former players who suffered from cognitive deficits at the field, and the increase in awareness of the danger of continued play.
