- Abstract
After the cutaneous lesions cleared within 1 month of treatment (the patient visited twice every 2 weeks), treatment with TCSs was discontinued immediately, but treatment with EPO was continued. Considering the adverse effects of long-term TCS use or other steroid-sparing therapy, we preferred to treat our patient with TCSs combined with oral EPO 1800 mg (160 mg/day as -linolenic acid). In the United States in 2007, 38% of adults and 11% of children used some form of complementary or alternative medicine.4 Patients with eczema seek treatment with complementary medicine because of the high rate of satisfaction.5 Some individuals undergo complementary therapies, including evening primrose oil (EPO) supplement and borage oil therapies, for the treatment of dermatitis.
