- Abstract
This article discusses a study on the potential use of salivary biomarkers for diagnosing chronic urticaria (CU), a condition characterized by wheals and angioedema. The researchers analyzed the levels of interleukin-8 (IL-8) and soluble triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells-1 (sTREM-1) in saliva samples from CU patients. They found that salivary IL-8 and sTREM-1 may be good diagnostic biomarkers for untreated CU, while salivary sTREM-1 levels may indicate the response to omalizumab therapy. The study provides valuable insights into non-invasive diagnostic tests for CU.
