- Abstract
Describe the therapeutic management of hepatic lipidosis in an infected feline by Mycoplasma haemofelis and evaluation of therapeutic effectiveness in Colombia. A feline female of 1year old, breed Balinese presented fever, jaundice, lethargy, anorexia, lymphopenia and anemia normocytic hypochromic. The ultrasound of feline showed hepatomegaly and liver changes echotexture, although values of liver enzymes were normal. The patient was diagnosed with presence of Mycoplasma haemofelis, through direct smear. The cat was treated with doxycycline 10 mg/kg oral, every 24 hours (h), omeprazole 0.5 mg/kg for 30 days (d), dipyrone 28 mg/kg every 12 h to control fever, metadoxine 10 mg/kg intravenous, every 12 h for 30 d, oxipurina and orotic acid at doses of 4 mg/kg muscle every 12 h for 1 week and silymarin 50 mg/kg orally every 12 h for 30 d. The patient after 20 d of treatment with doxycycline, metadoxine and silymarin, presented an improvement, recovered from hepatic lipidosis and was negative for the presence of Mycoplasma haemofelis, this case is described as being hepatic lipidosis another alteration to consider in mycoplasma infection in feline species and its therapeutic management.
