- Abstract
Analyzes manufacturer incentives for resale price maintenance using a retail search model of Salop and Stiglitz which they developed in 1977. Effect of a retailers' minimum price on cost functions; Manufacturers' benefit from price floors when sales to high-search-cost consumers that have obtained lower prices increase sufficiently to offset decreased sales to other consumers facing higher prices.
