- Abstract
The current economic crisis has reduced investments and consumption in the construction sector across the country. In this context, there are building material stores, formed mostly by micro and small companies. As a way of improving the current scenario, Sebrae, through the Casa e Construção Project, fostered the creation of a network between small companies in the building materials sector in the State of Sergipe to promote associativism. This research had as main objective to analyze the motivations in the formation process of the "Oxente" Network of construction materials of the State of Sergipe, driven by the participation of Sebrae. Through exploratory and descriptive research, with a quantitative and qualitative approach and a unique case study strategy. Questionnaires were applied and interviews were conducted with members of the network, in addition to documentary analysis, in order to characterize and identify the main motivating and determining factors for the formation of the aforementioned network. The results demonstrate that the main motivations for joining the network are derived from the search for an appreciation of the company in the market, the reduced number of participants and the support of Sebrae. It was also identified that the role of leadership was fundamental in the process of forming the network, as initially a climate of mistrust reigned, which was mitigated by the debates and the explanation of doubts among the participants. It is concluded, then, that there are several factors that motivated the formation of the "Oxente" Network.
