- Abstract
This essay aims to discuss pedagogical practices and the assessment process of music teaching in the Undergraduate program in Rural Education: Codes and Languages – Arts and Music at the Federal University of Tocantins, Tocantinopolis Campus, state of Tocantins, Brazil. The work consists of a broad reflection based on the literature, and on the authors' experience on the subject in the context of this undergraduate program. It can be concluded that the assessment process has different dimensions regarding Music Education from the perspective of Rural Education, demanding from the teacher a more humanized posture, capable of overcoming the boundaries established by the Eurocentrism existing in some academic music training courses.
