The article offers the author's insights on the role of parents in the assessment of the developmental domains of children with late developmental disabilities diagnosis. Topics discussed by the author include the limitations of parental reports in documenting vocabulary types and phonological development, the use of retrospective video analysis, and the fundamental of family videos in understanding children's early development.
