- Abstract
A preparticipation screening (PPS) is mandatory before starting Movement and Sport Studies in order to lower the risk of injuries. Little is known about the effectiveness of these PPS. There is no injury registration during the education program. We used an online questionnaire to examine the injuries of the students from Movement and Sport Studies. We compared the outcome of the questionnaire with the test results of the PPS retrospectively, in order to see if the students with complaints differ in their Body Mass Index, fat percentage, muscle length and stance from students without complaints. 97 Students were included. 70% of the respondents had one or more injuries. Most complaints were from the ankle, knee and back. Female students with ankle complaints had a significant higher fat percentage compared to the females without ankle complaints. Students with knee complaints more often had shortened hamstrings and hyperextension of the knees. We pleat for a better registration of injuries at Movement and Sport Studies and better advises following the PPS.
