- Abstract
In this research work, an analytical transient heat transfer model has been proposed for measurement of flash temperature in a pin-on-disk tribometer in view of the variation in coefficient of friction (dependent on wear mechanism). The model was successfully validated with experimental results of the present research work as well as with reported experimental data. The model also suggested a rise in flash temperature to a high level [441 K (168 °C)] resulting in an evolution of nodular oxide (AlO) that eventually reduced the wear loss to a considerable extent.
