- Abstract
The author discusses the report by the scientific intergovernmental body "Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change" (IPCC) on the rise of global sea level and states that it does not provide information for the management of high risk coastal areas. Topics include the IPCC perspective scenarios on the rise in sea level; the concerns regarding its use for coastal zone risk management and the authors own approach based on the IPCC scenarios to meet the expectations on coastal risk management.
