- Authors
Liviskie, Caren; McPherson, Christopher; Zeller, Brandy
- Abstract
This commentary discusses the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition guidelines for parenteral nutrition (PN) in preterm infants. The authors express concerns about the recommendation to restrict amino acids (AAs) due to an increased risk of sepsis. They argue that the authors' interpretation of the data is flawed and question the methodology used in the studies that informed the guidelines. The authors also highlight inconsistencies in the assessment of publication bias and the exclusion of relevant studies. The commentary concludes by stating that the authors have no conflicts of interest.
