- Abstract
For successful donation, death verification and organ retrieval have to happen quite soon after death or warm-ischemic organ damage precludes transplantation, unlike DNDD where organs have an intact circulation until removal. TRANSPLANT PHYSICIAN'S PERSPECTIVE Dr Matt Fenton, a transplant cardiologist from GOSH explored the organs provided by each mode of donation, before focusing on heart donation and transplantation. Sunni view Dr Mansur Ali, an established academic, presented Sunni Islamic rulings applied to organ donation by stating there are no contentions with receipt of an organ transplant, out of necessity for maintaining one's life. We can find no similar reports focusing on the challenging theme of pediatric organ donation and do hope it will prompt and support conversations surrounding organ donation and faith in the Muslim community, and encourage HCP to similarly engage with local community faith groups.
