- Abstract
Ten women seen for infertility evaluation consented to a comparative study of the uterine cavity with two-dimensional transvaginal sonography (2D-TVS), three-dimensional ultrasound (3D-US), and three-dimensional hysterosonography (3D-HSSG), that is, 3D-US following endometrial distention with a saline solution. The objective of the study was to determine whether there were differences in endometrial sonolucency or in the results of endometrial thickness measurements among the three methods. The techniques were found to be equivalent for determination of endometrial thickness. However, 3D-HSSG proved to be superior to 2D-TVS and 3D-US visualization and evaluation of the endometrium and myometrium. (J GYNECOL SURG 13:101, 1997)
