The author reflects on the aspects of in vitro assays for the detection of drug sensitivity of a patient's cancer. He states that selection of right course of chemotherapy and kinase inhibitor is still a tough task despite years of collective experience in cancer treatment. It further details that extensive research for biomarkers to predict sensitivity or resistance to specific drugs has been intensified.
