- Abstract
This article reports the first case of southern tomato virus (STV) infection in Guizhou, China. STV is a highly transmissible virus that affects tomato plants, causing symptoms such as leaf necrosis, yellowing, and chlorosis. The researchers isolated the virus from symptomatic tomato plants and obtained the complete genome sequence of the STV isolate. They found that the Guizhou isolate shares a high sequence identity with STV isolates from China, Korea, the USA, and Serbia, suggesting a common origin, possibly through infected seeds. This study provides valuable information about the presence and spread of STV in Guizhou.
