An essay is presented on the interpretation of 16th century tradition of the Anabaptism. It relates the historical ties that connect Mennonites to the Anabaptism and to Menno Simons. The author observes the differences within the Anabaptist-Mennonite tradition, which should be interpreted as variants in the use of regulative principles rather than as departures from a prescriptive Anabaptist tradition.
