- Title
Validity and fairness.
- Authors
Kane, Michael
- Abstract
The article discusses the studying of fairness as comparable validity across groups within the population of interest. The author proposes a fairness argument model that combines fairness and validity in interpreting decision outcomes of different groups. It states that the relationship between fairness and validity depends on how the two concepts are defined. It notes that validity is narrowly defined as the component of fairness while fairness is related to a specific technical issue such as a predictive bias. In addition, it states that fairness is the core value in democratic societies.
