The Tampa General Hospital: A Case Study in O.R. Automation.
- Abstract
The article focuses on innovative and creative solutions to common nursing management problems based on a study which centered on operating room (O. R.) automation at the Tampa General Hospital (TGH) in the Gulf Coast of Florida. The implemented computerized management system known as STANDACARE O.R. includes software that automates surgical suite management. The resulting benefits of the computerized management system represent a blend of quantitative and qualitative factors. Financial analysis of the surgical suite management information system is also presented. It is concluded that the TGH is enthusiastic about the benefits provided by the O.R. system.
