Calcite "Melt" in GROSSULAR.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article describes the result of the gemological examination of a 0.39-cut transparent light green, round mixed-cut grossular from Lelatema, Tanzania. Initial analysis reveals that the transparent features in the grossular appeared as if they might have been molten in their garnet hosts. Under long-wave ultraviolet (UV) radiation, the pale green garnet host displays weak-to-moderate orange reaction, while under a polarized light, the transparent areas of the inclusion system behaved curiously. The melted-looking inclusions were said to be calcite, using laser Raman microspectroscopy.
