- Abstract
The Appropriation of the Landscape by Tupi-Guarani Tribal Societies The way different human groups are distributed in the landscape is directly related to their way of life that includes their type of social organization and the technology that is available to them. These variables are closely related to the environment. I will comment on the settlement patterns of tribal groups of Tupi-Guarani linguistic affiliation that occupied almost all of the eastern portion of South America, based on 16th century ethno-historical documents and archaeological research information. As case study, I present archaeological data found on the south coast of the State of São Paulo, Brazil.
