Bowel preparation for endoscopy: an overview.
- Authors

- Abstract
A clear bowel is essential to a successful lower gastrointestinal endoscopy. Therefore, nurses are required to select and inform patients about bowel preparations in order to achieve this. This may involve patients drinking a solution, such as CitraFleet® and Picolax®, Citramag® or KLEAN-PREP®, MOVIPREP® and PLENVU®. This article aims to outline and discuss these, including their efficacy and safety, to support nurses in achieving adequate bowel cleansing and safe and effective lower gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures.
