In this article the author discusses the importance of small prairies which can develop their own identity overtime from local seeds and nuts. He observes the predacious behavior of insects that formed part of the biotic community within the small prairie. The author thinks that the surviving plants provide hope that there is still time and that restoration is still a worthwhile effort.
