- Abstract
The article discusses multiple sclerosis (MS), a chronic demyelinating neurologic disorder that mostly affects people 20-50 years of age. The article describes the pathophysiology, classification and clinical presentation of MS. The use of the McDonald Criteria and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the diagnosis of MS is explained. Successful management includes the use of disease-modifying agents as well as counseling to address its psychological impact on the patient and the family.
