- Title
CASE IN POINT: OPTIMIZING TREATMENT IN T2DM TO REDUCE CV RISK.
- Abstract
The article presents a case study of a 67-year-old patient who returned for a follow-up visit after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and taking metformin twice a day. He has a family history of T2DM and stroke but denies family history of cardiovascular disease (CVD). The article discusses treatment of T2DM to reduce CVD by adding thiazolidinedione (TZD) and glucagon-like peptide (GLP) to help the patient achieve the glycemic target and prevention of CVD.
