- Title
The ever-muddled Canadian waters and elective ventilation.
- Authors
Monette, Michael
- Abstract
The article focuses on the divergence of views on elective ventilation, the practice of allowing people with severe brain injuries and hopeless prognoses to be placed on ventilators to improve organ donation rates in Canada. Doctor Sam Shemie, medical director for organs and tissues donation at Canadian Blood Services (CBS), emphasizes the need to establish a national system or an inter-provincial system to resolve the shortage of organ donations.
