The author reflects on the effects of analgesia for skin-breaking procedures on newborns and children. The author mentions samples of skin-breaking procedures which include blood sampling, injection of vitamins, circumcision and vaccination to newborns. He said that these procedures can have some damaging effects to newborns and children such as physiologic instability and behavioral distress.
