THE LIFE, AND DEATH, OF A LIBRARY.
- Authors
Brinkman, Carol S.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the Laura Kersey Library of Engineering, Physical Science and Technology in Louisville, Kentucky. It was formed with a merger between the engineering library and the science library in 1983 to support the scientific and technological disciplines of the University of Louisville, Kentucky. The construction of a new wing took place in 1989. During 1991-2003, allocation of funds became a major problem. Despite the financial problems, the collection at the library grew rapidly. In 1996, the library had around 90,000 volumes and 1,300 subscribed periodicals. In 2004, closure plans of the library were proposed and on July 21, 2006, the library was closed forever.
