- Abstract
I John: Interpreted by Early Christian and Medieval Commentators i is the sixth volume to appear in print of the new commentary series, The Church's Bible, published by Eerdmans and edited by renowned patristics scholar, Robert Louis Wilken. Each volume in the series, which is designed to be part commentary and part anthology, consists of a collection of passages from premodern figures, organized as a chapter-by-chapter commentary on a biblical book. For these reasons, this volume is especially valuable: it provides readers not just with interesting exegetical tidbits, but it introduces them to a way of seeing Scripture and the world through the eyes of some of the most significant voices of the premodern church.
