- Abstract
The article offers information on the study "On the Persistent Financial Losses of U.S. Airlines: A Preliminary Explanation," by Severin Borenstein. The study examined several disequilibrium theories offered by analysts for the financial difficulties of airlines. According to Borenstein, he found no conventional long-run equilibrium explanation for an industry that perpetually loses money. He explored the role played by the entry and expansion of low-cost carriers like Southwest and JetBLue.
