INTENTIONALITY: A REPLY TO STIFFLER.
- Authors
Lowe, E.J.
- Abstract
In a recent note, sociologist Eric Stiffler criticises the analyses of intentional and unintentional action proposed by the author. Stiffler presents a number of putative counter-examples to the author's analyses. Against he offers first of all the following two cases. He intentionally swat a fly even though he do not know at the time he swings the fly swatter that his swatting the fly will certainly result and he intentionally start the engine of his car even though he do not know that the engine will start when he turn the key in the ignition of his ancient and not entirely reliable automobile on a cold morning.
