The article discusses the historical aspects of the debate between state and federal control over immigration law enforcement in the U.S. Topics discussed include decision of the U.S. Supreme Court in cases such as 'Fong Yue Ting v. United States' and 'United States v. Curtiss-Wright Export Corp' related to the immigration issues; promulgating laws regulating the acts of immigrants within their state borders; and naturalization clause of the U.S. constitution.
