- Title
Regulate gene editing in wild animals.
- Authors
Lunshof, Jeantine
- Abstract
The author reflects on the need for proper regulation of using gene-modification tools in wild species to avoid irreversible damage to ecosystems. She suggests the ethical and biosafety issues raised by the use of CRISPR in human germline engineering should not blind people to the problem of using CRISPR to edit genomes of wild animal problems. She mentions the use of gene drive molecular biology to increase the efficiency of spreading genetic edits to offspring.
