The article discusses the history of desegregation of public schools in Franklin County, North Carolina in mid-20th century. Also cited are the ruling of desegregation issued by U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina chief judge Algernon Lee Butler in 1968, the criticism by "Franklin Times" managing editor Albert Clinton "Clint" Fuller of Butler's decision, and the U.S. Supreme Court's judgment in the case Brown v. Board of Education.
