- Title
HOUSE PASSES TUITION TAX RELIEF ACT.
- Abstract
The article reports that the U.S. House of Representatives approved the Tuition Tax Relief Act on June 1, 1978. The law allows tax credits for 25 percent of college expenses and for elementary/secondary school tuition, it extends maximum credits. Boston University president John R. Silber describes the law as allowing an individual to mortgage the cost of his education by using as collateral the enhanced earning capability that a college education normally provides. President Jimmy Carter still plans to veto tuition tax credit legislation.
