Richards, Rachel
- Abstract
The article presents a study which explores the attitudes of beginning students in teacher education toward different phases of teaching in the U.S. The Attitude Inventory was administered to new students in an orientation course in education. The data agreed in some respects with data from other studies made of attitudes towards teaching in that the majority of students stated that they chose teaching because they wanted to help children and anticipated personal enjoyment in the work and the greatest single influence on their choice of teaching came from teachers.
