- Abstract
The article focuses on the 1938 kidnapping and murder case of James Bailey Cash Jr. in Princeton, Florida. The author discusses the history of random kidnappings in the U.S. throughout 1920s and 1930s, including the kidnapping of aviator Charles A. Lindbergh's child, explores how the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) managed to capture the kidnapper Franklin Pierce McCall, and examines how this case impacted antilynching legislation.
