- Abstract
The study aims to examine the role of negative leadership in organizational citizenship behavior in Baghdad's private commercial banks. The theories of resource conservation, cognitive evaluation, and social exchange were used in developing the study's hypotheses to test the direct and indirect relationship between negative leadership in its five dimensions, mainly: self-promotion, narcissism, authoritarian leadership, arbitrary oversight, unpredictability, and citizenship behavior. A total of 120 questionnaires were distributed on a non-probability easy sample represented by private commercial banks operating in Baghdad, including Baghdad, Iraqi Middle East Investment, United Investment, Business Bay, North Finance, and Investment., Assyria International Investment, which presents 25% of the total study population. The respondents were general directors, heads of departments, people officials, and unit officials. A descriptive-analytical approach and descriptive statistical methods were used to analyze 103 received questionnaires using the SPSS program. The findings indicate a positive consensual relationship between negative leadership and citizenship behaviors. This reflects the need to analyze negative behaviors and understand the door of leadership corruption to avoid what their forefathers fell into in a world tinged with tension, deprivation, and turmoil. The study made recommendations for future research.
