- Abstract
This article focuses on the popularity of cancer patient navigators in the U.S. Navigators provide additional support and guidance to patients from their initial screening through their diagnostic evaluation, treatment and on to survivorship. The main focus of a patient navigation is the education of patients and their families. The credentials and background required from a navigator and the effect of navigators on health care costs are discussed.
