- Abstract
The article examines the Phenomenology and Course of Pediatric Bipolar Disorders study funded by the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). The study investigates on childhood bipolar disorder and provides the truth about the disease's relapses and consequences. After examining 115 children aging seven to 16 between 1995 and 1998, it was revealed that 44 percent of patients continue to experience manic episodes into adulthood, while 35 percent develop substance abuse disorders.
