- Title
Reducing health inequities requires a new national health research agenda.
- Authors
Baum, Fran
- Abstract
The author focuses on the need for a new national health research agenda in Australia in order to reduce health inequities. The author expresses disappointment that the National Preventative Health Taskforce was given a brief that focused on proximal causes of disease instead of the underlying causes of ill-health. The author also notes that most public funding is allocated to medical research, while little research resource is spent on what keeps people healthy.
