The article features Dorothy Matthews, the only Macmillan palliative care nurse who specializes in people with learning disabilities. Matthews claims that her role in people with learning disabilities started in the 1990s when a group of people asked about what to do with the palliative care needs of learning disabled people. She describes her role as composed of clinical caseload, educational task and development work. The challenges she encounter in performing her duties are also highlighted.
