- Abstract
The article examines the activities and successes of the anti-rape and domestic violence movements in prison in the U.S. It explores the scope of prison rape offering some insights into how often it occurs. It highlights the steps prison officials and the justice system have taken to prevent prison rape, as well as the shortcomings of the efforts. It outlines the dimensions of both the anti-rape movement and the domestic violence campaign with particular focus on how they affect cultural, political and social change. It denotes the perceived differences that have served to impede implementation of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA).
