- Abstract
This article examines the potential interaction between the SARS-CoV-2 virus and platelets in COVID-19 patients. While there is conflicting evidence regarding whether the virus directly infects platelets, studies have shown elevated levels of inflammatory cytokines and platelet activation in COVID-19 patients. The article emphasizes the need for further research to understand the mechanisms of platelet activation and their role in COVID-19 pathology, including the potential contribution to complications such as thrombosis. A list of scientific articles related to platelets and COVID-19 is also provided, highlighting the significant role of platelets in the development and severity of the disease.
