- Abstract
Length‐weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for four fish species (Catathyridium garmani, Pseudauchenipterus affinis, Cathorops arenatus, and Anchoviella brevirostris) captured at six sites on the Espírito Santo and Bahia continental shelf, Brazil. Fishes were sampled monthly for 13 consecutive months using a small‐meshed bottom trawl (measured 10.25 m in ground rope and 8.37 m in head rope, with 13‐ and 5‐mm 156 stretched mesh openings in the body and in the cod‐end). Measurements were taken for total length (TL − 0.1 cm precision) and total weight (TW − 0.01 g precision). All estimated LWRs were significant (p <.05). New maximum total lengths (TL) were recorded for three species.
