This article examines French foreign policy under President Nicolas Sarkozy, who has made it a priority to repair damaged relations with the U.S. The author believes Sarkozy's energy and ambition to remake France is precisely what is needed after 12 years under former French President Jacques Chirac. Sarkozy is also attempting to institute neoliberal economic reforms to alleviate France's slow growth.
