FIGHTING AGAINST HUMAN TRAFFICKING.
- Abstract
The article discusses the fight against human trafficking. It notes that prosecutors are the one who will communicate directly to victims of trafficking and offer them immunity in exchange for testimony. It states that victims are unwilling to cooperate with law enforcement due to misplaced loyalty to their traffickers or to fear retaliation. It highlights the Building Empowerment by Stopping Trafficking (B.E.S.T), a dynamic and multifaceted that provides education, outreach and victim treatment services. The authors claim that human trafficking victims are not criminals and recognized a proper assessment to be met by the victims in order to provide them adequate treatment and to effectively prosecute their traffickers.
