- Abstract
Although the acoustic phonetics is not anymore a new field of science in Latvia, this field has not been research thoroughly. Constrictive consonants of Latvian can mostly be characterised by the following features: spectral peaks, amplitude and formant transitions. Aim of this research is to determine whether amplitude values can be used in classification of voiced constrictives. FFT spectra for all voiced constrictive consonants were made by the computer software MultiSpeech and the amplitude values in decibels (db) were determined for the highest peak in the spectrum corresponding to the largest friction energy.
